A
successful vintage transport ‘open day’ was held at this new loco builders
site (opened in October 2008) with the following present:- 60cm gauge: 0-4-0WT
(Jung 3175/21), undergoing overhaul/rebuild expected to be completed in 2010.
2ft
gauge: all on temporary laid running lines: 4wPM DSN 09 (J.Nemeth 2009) green
livery (new build, using a refurbished lister 2 cylinder engine). 4wPM (L
33650/49) yellow livery (visiting loco from B.Faulkner, Churcham, Glous).
STATFORD 0-4-0T (HE 3903/05) red livery, in use with two empty wagons (visiting
loco from the Statford Barn Railway).
Notes:
Several miniature railway locos were on site for over-haul/repair along with
some freight wagons. A 10.25inch gauge 4-6-2 2647 Robin Hood ‘A2/1 Pacific
based’ (with six-wheel tender) built in 1947 by David Curwen, was in use
giving rides in sit in wagons alongside one of the barns. In the workshop,
alongside the Jung were 10.25inch 4-6-2 ‘GN Atlantic based’ 3292 John
Terence nearing a complete return to working order having been built in 1908. A
10.25inch GWR 14xx 0-4-2T working loco was also under construction (new).
Vintage cars, army vehicles and farm equipment, along with a number of trade
stands completed the scene as well as a specially arranged Concorde
‘fly-past’, which was part of a model air display (of course!) £150 was
raised for local charities a similar event is planned for 2010.
