2) Previous visit reports stated that 2 other locos were present inside the shed. This was not confirmed by our party.

Alan Lightfoot Plant Services, Wigton

The party arrived at the address of this company to find no sign of any Rail Plant equipment. It retrospectively came to light that this was the administrative headquarters only with the Rail Plant being kept at a site in nearby Kirkbride.

Notes:

1) LNER 3857 (DE320946) was quoted in many Departmental publications as being 3849. However recent investigations made by the Railway and other researchers have revealed 3857 as it's original identity.

2) LNER 4163 arrived from the North Tyneside Museum, Newcastle earlier in 2007. 3) The IRS Crane list states the works number of Coles crane No.53 as 15439. However the underframe was carrying a plate clearly stamped as 15436.
