Royal Museum Of Scotland, Biggar Gasworks Museum

This Museum was closed and there was no sign of the 2ft gauge Barclay Steam loco. It was deemed that this loco would have been locked away out of sight within one of the many buildings that made up the museum.

Note;     It was assumed that the WR battery electric loco was situated on “level 2” of the quarry, but the party was far too knackered to venture that high after the grueling ramble around the Cumbrian Mountains already administered at Threlkeld.

F.G.Shepherd, Middle Fell, Alston

This scrap yard was visited but there was no sign of any of the locos. Post visit discussions with the scrap yard owner has revealed that 1 of the rebuilt WR locos went to a Blennerhassett Watermill in Cumbria, while the other rebuilt WR went to the Peak District Lead Mining museum in Matlock, Derbyshire. Also Clayton B3084/84 has now returned to the Ayle Colliery at Alston.

Nent Valley Railway, Nentsberry

It was reported that the loco has allegedly been sold and moved. Severel attempts have been made to contact the last living part owner, Steve Frogley, which have drawn a blank therefore leaving the exact whereabouts of this loco a mystery.

Allenheads Heritage Centre, Allenheads

1)     Present in the workshop was Wisbech & Upwell Tramway Body No.7. This was under restoration for the Rutland Railway Museum and should return there when finished.
2)     Also present outside was an unidentified North London Railway “Birdcage” body that had recently arrived from a garden in the West Midlands. It was intended that this will be next in line to be restored on a wagon underframe once the above is complete. It was not confirmed where it will end up when complete.

2) BR BG 80608 (041898) was due to be moved to Warcop at the same time as the other BGs from Jarvis at York but the move has never taken place. The coach has since moved from its previous location in York WRD and it’s current whereabouts/existence is not known.
