The Branch Line Society (BLS) is a UK-based voluntary association for railway enthusiasts. It is a nationally spread organisation established in 1955 and is widely recognised as Britain's leading amateur group for the study of railway infrastructure and history of networks. It pursues its aims by a news service, mainline, heritage and private railtours and visits, and the production and distribution of publications. Emphasis is on the physical works and on operating arrangements, rather than motive power and rolling stock.

The Industrial Railway Society was founded in 1949 as the Birmingham Locomotive Club - Industrial Locomotive Information Section. The Society is the leading organization in the United Kingdom devoted to the study of all aspects, and all gauges, of privately owned industrial railways and locomotives, both at home and overseas.

The Southend Pier Railway Museum
The pier is the longest pleasure pier in the world and the museum hosts to
pier trams from the 1890s and 1950s along with a working signal box.
The railway is working to restore the former line to full working order.
